License your photography
Editorial licensing is opt-in, per story or per image — you choose exactly what desks can license.
1. It’s part of Pro
Editorial licensing is a Pro feature. Free accounts can see what it is at Editorial listings but won’t see the opt-in toggles until they upgrade.
2. What a licence is
News desks license your image for news, commentary, or education — one title, no resale. A licence is for editorial use only: no advertising, no sublicensing.
3. The split
95% of every sale goes to you, always. The rate card prints both numbers — what the buyer pays and what you receive — so there’s no mental arithmetic before you opt in.
4. Opt in
At Editorial listings, opt in a whole story or individual images within it. Opting in shows a consent step naming the current terms version and confirming the split before it takes effect — nothing is pre-ticked. Your consent (who, when, terms version, scope) is recorded.
Each image shows one of three states: “Listed” (visible to desks and licensable), “Held” (temporarily out of the index while a check or case is resolved — nothing is required from you unless we email), or “Not listed” (private to the member site, as normal).
5. Opting out
Opt out any time — delisting is immediate. Licences already completed before you opt out remain valid; they were sold under consent you’d already given.
6. Getting paid
Set up payouts once via Stripe Connect, from Payout setup. Once it’s complete, sales pay out weekly. Every payout has a downloadable statement, and if Stripe needs one more detail from you before payouts can start, the payouts page says exactly what.
