How we keep this real.

The Block works because everyone here holds the same line. The short version:

  • Cameras only. Camera-proven before publish. No phones, no fakes.
  • Stories, not singles. Bring a sequence, not a one-off.
  • Own your work. Publish what you shot; credit and provenance matter.
  • Respect the street. Photograph people and places with judgement; honour takedown requests.
  • Talk like a peer. Feedback over flattery; craft over clout.

Full guidelines below.

Cameras only

Every image is checked on our servers at the moment you upload. Phones, action cams, and drones bounce; if the check can’t be sure, it says no. That strictness protects everyone’s work, and it will occasionally catch a genuine camera — if that happens to yours, tell us through the support form and we’ll review it. Real cameras get added to the allowlist; verification should never punish real work.

Stories, not singles

There’s no single-image upload here, and that’s deliberate. A story is a sequence — the frames you choose, in the order that tells it. The constraint makes you edit, and editing is where the work gets good. Bring the frames that carry it, not everything you shot that day.

Own your work

Publish what you shot, and only what you shot. The gatekeeper checks the camera; the rest is on you — no uploading someone else’s frames, no presenting borrowed work as your own. Credit anyone who was part of the work. If you find your work published here by someone else, report it and a person will review it.

Respect the street

Street photography means real people in real places, and that carries weight. Photograph with judgement — think hard around children, private moments, and anyone made vulnerable by the frame. If someone asks for an image to come down, honour it. Takedown requests for a specific image or a precise location go through the support form, and a human reviews every one.

Talk like a peer

Feedback over flattery; craft over clout. Say what the work needs, the way you’d want it said to you. No harassment, no hate, no spam — you can report any story or member, and you can block a member outright. Reports go to a review queue where a person looks at them, and repeated or serious violations can cost you your account.
