Enter a competition
Competitions run on real dates and, sometimes, a real place. Here's what's eligible, and how voting works.
1. Find an open competition
Go to Competitions while signed in. Each open competition lists its theme, entry count, and either “Entries close” or “Voting closes” with the real date. Some competitions are marked PRO ONLY — entry is exclusive to Pro members. If nothing is running, you can ask to be notified when one opens.
2. Check eligibility before you enter
Entering opens a picker over your own published stories. It states the competition’s capture window up front — a story has to have been captured between the competition’s start and end dates — and, if the competition has a boundary set, inside it too. The server checks both when you submit, so if a story doesn’t qualify you’ll see the real reason rather than a silent failure.
3. Enter
Open the competition and select “Enter Competition,” then choose the qualifying story from the picker. Once it’s accepted, the page shows “You’ve entered this competition” in place of the entry button — one entry per competition.
4. Vote
Voting doesn’t always open the moment entries do. If it hasn’t started yet, the entries page states exactly when it opens — either a specific date, or “when entries close.” Once voting is open, you get one vote per competition: click Vote on the entry you want, click it again (now labelled Voted) to remove your vote, or vote for a different entry to move it there instead.
You can’t vote for your own entry — it shows “Your entry” instead of a vote button.
5. After it closes
Past competitions stay listed with their close date and entry count. Winners show once settled; until then the listing reads “Not yet settled.”
